The start of the 2023 NFL season is right around the corner, with training camps around the league well underway and preseason games about to get started, with the New York Jets facing the Cleveland Browns in the Hall of Fame game on Thursday night.

With the Jets set to show off their new-look roster on Thursday, the one question everyone has been asking is whether New York newcomer Aaron Rodgers will be under center for the storied franchise against the Browns.

Although that would easily make this game must-see TV for football fans, it seems as though head coach Robert Saleh isn’t ready to go that route just yet.

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Jets intend to start former first-round draft pick Zach Wilson against the Browns.

With Rodgers’ resume speaking for itself, there’s no need to risk his health in a meaningless game like this against the Browns, so this is a smart move by Saleh and the Jets, especially with the team needing to see if there’s been any improvement from Wilson.

Last season, Wilson was under tremendous pressure to prove his worth to the team as it was expected he’d be the long-term starter, but he failed to make an impression, which led to this offseason move to bring in Rodgers.

Now Wilson heads into a prove-it year with the Jets, with these preseason games potentially being important for him to showcase anything he might have improved upon.
