SRINAGAR: A 54-year-old man drowned while fishing in Nigeen Lake in the Lalbazar area of Srinagar, officials said on Tuesday.
“Nisar Ahmad Qureshi, a resident of Batamaloo, drowned after he slipped into the lake while fishing. Soon after the incident, a rescue operation was launched by a team of SDRF and river police in Srinagar,” they said.
After hectic efforts, the body of Nisar Ahmad was fished out and shifted to the hospital for medico-legal formalities, they said.Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident. (KS)
