Scoot Henderson of the Portland Trail Blazers is confident that great things are ahead for him.

The rookie star has yet to play a regular season game but he has his sights set on not just being the greatest incoming player, but eventually the greatest of all time.

Speaking to Playmaker, via NBACentral, he said that his goal is plain and simple: he wants “to be the best point guard to ever play in the game.”

“When people think of Scoot Henderson, I want them to think of the best player to ever play the game,” Henderson added.

Obviously, that’s a lofty goal.

In fact, no goal is loftier.

Henderson has been speaking about his confidence for a while now.

He recently said that he will win the upcoming Rookie of the Year, despite the incoming talent of Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs.

He will also have to compete against other young stars like Brandon Miller and Chet Holmgren, who is eligible because he missed all of last season.

Henderson didn’t get a whole lot of time to play during Summer League due to injury but he certainly shined in the moments he had.

It is very clear that his confidence isn’t just reserved for interviews, as he is just as sure of himself on the floor.

It’s very likely that he will be front-and-center for the Blazers since they are in the slow process of losing Damian Lillard.

With Lillard gone, Henderson could become the leader of the squad even though it’ll be his rookie year.

It seems pretty obvious that he will be very comfortable in that role.
