The Basketball Hall of Fame will induct a new class of players and coaches over the weekend, with one of the biggest names getting the nod being Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade.

With the three-time NBA champion becoming a Hall of Famer this weekend, the critics have been in full force breaking down his legacy, with former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce being at the head of the pack.

Although Wade has dealt with some criticism, he’s also been praised for what he was able to accomplish during his NBA career, as he will arguably go down as one of the greatest backcourt players of all time.

Former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins recently chimed in on Wade’s legacy, as he believes Wade is one of the best shooting guards in league history, via NBA on ESPN.

Wade didn’t take long to make an impact on the NBA level after the Heat drafted him out of Marquette with the No. 5 overall pick in the iconic 2003 NBA Draft, which also saw other legends start their professional careers, like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh.

Ironically enough, Perkins also entered the league in 2003 as a late first-round pick, where he ultimately landed with the Boston Celtics.

Although Wade was never able to reach the level of Michael Jordan, who he worshipped as a Chicago native, and Kobe Bryant at the shooting guard position, he’s arguably the third-best player at that position in league history, which obviously isn’t bad considering the two players ahead of him.
