Jayson Tatum Makes His Thoughts Clear On Jaylen Brown’s Extension

The Boston Celtics made a big decision in the offseason.

They signed Jaylen Brown to the largest contract in the history of the league, fueling debates and criticism all over social media.

Even some former NBA players and pundits were in awe of the fact that Jaylen Brown got such a big payday, granted that he’s not even the best player on his team.

However, it was actually a logical decision to make, according to his sidekick Jayson Tatum, who recently talked to the Boston Globe about how happy he was for Brown getting that deal (via Celtics Daily).

Truth be told, the Celtics didn’t have much of a choice if they still believed in the Tatum-Brown core.

Brown could’ve refused to sign an extension for anything less than the maximum, and he could’ve walked away in free agency or demanded a trade.

Also, the fact that he signed a contract extension there doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll extend in Boston throughout the course of his entire deal, as he could still be traded at some point.

Moreover, as big as this contract looks right now, it’s just a matter of time before someone — including Tatum — gets an even bigger payday, and people won’t think of him as such a bad contract in hindsight.

Of course, committing $600+ million to just two players is a risky bet, but it’s also the bet you do when you have two of the best young players in the league, and it’s not like it’s Brown’s fault that he met all the criteria to get this kind of deal.
