Rich Eisen Reacts To Ravens Signing Former No. 1 Overall Pick

The Baltimore Ravens could be something of a dark-horse team in the AFC this season.

They have a re-signed and soon-to-be-wealthy Lamar Jackson at quarterback, a fully recovered Odell Beckham Jr. at wide receiver, and another wideout in rookie Zay Flowers who may have star potential.

Recently, Baltimore signed defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who was once the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Rich Eisen made his feelings about the signing clear during a recent episode of his show.

Clowney was a star at the University of South Carolina, and he won two All-American and All-SEC honors, as well as an SEC Defensive Player of the Year award in his three seasons there.

He was expected to be a superstar in the NFL, especially because of his speed, which allowed him to run the 40-yard dash in just 4.53 seconds during the scouting combine.

While he has made three Pro Bowls and has been reasonably productive, he simply hasn’t lived up to expectations.

In the last two seasons, Clowney played for the Cleveland Browns, where he teamed up with defensive end Myles Garrett, who consistently provides the type of production people were expecting from the former Gamecock.

The Ravens are hoping Clowney will help shore up a defense that ranked just 26th in passing yards allowed last season and provide some support for an offensive unit that looks solidly potent.

Last season, they won 10 games despite an injury that forced Jackson to miss the last five games of the regular season and their playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
