The Minnesota Timberwolves have a bona fide star in the making in Anthony Edwards who is looking like he’s taking his game up to the next level.

Edwards has been the go-to guy for Team USA as it prepares for the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup and had his best game of the exhibition slate against Germany when he carried the Americans to a comeback victory behind his 34 points.

The young phenom is a talented scorer with the athleticism to get to any spot on the floor, making him a serious threat whenever he has the ball in his hands.

While his natural talents are something to marvel at, Edwards has also shown a killer instinct and drive to be great that should excite Timberwolves fans.

Minnesota broadcaster Michael Grady has watched Edwards up close for years and discussed what he sees in the All-Star, via SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Grady brings up a great point that Edwards got an opportunity to truly lead the Timberwolves when Karl-Anthony Towns injured his calf, paving the way for him to assume more responsibility.

There are plenty of players who would love to be the main guy on their team, but it takes a truly special person to embrace the challenge of carrying a franchise.

Although Edwards is still a few more years away from his prime, the growth he’s shown up to this point should leave people optimistic that he can hit his ceiling.

Through three years of his career, Edwards is looking more and more like the superstar Minnesota hoped they drafted No. 1 overall back in 2020.
