After the Portland Trail Blazers decided to sign forward Jerami Grant to a lucrative long-term deal and draft guard Scoot Henderson with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, superstar guard Damian Lillard decided he had enough and finally requested to be traded.

Lillard wasn’t willing to go through another youth movement in Portland, especially after telling the team that he wanted players around him to help him win now rather than down the road.

The Blazers were unwilling to make the right moves to appease the face of the franchise, and now his future is uncertain as he still remains without a new team even though he wants to land with the Miami Heat.

However, according to the Miami Herald via League Alerts, the Heat and Blazers could be on the verge of starting trade talks once again.

Ever since making his trade demand, Lillard desired to play alongside fellow stars Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo in Miami and made his intentions known publicly.

Even though the NBA warned Lillard and his agent about trying to force his way to Miami, the Heat still seem to be in the mix to make this blockbuster trade with the Blazers.

The consensus seems to be that one or two more teams must be added to this blockbuster trade in order for a deal to go through, with Portland not exactly thrilled with what they’d get in return from Miami for Lillard.

It’ll be interesting to see if things have changed when trade talks start up again.
