The Miami Heat had an underwhelming offseason after playing in the 2023 NBA Finals.
The Heat lost two key players in Caleb Martin and Max Strus during free agency.
But the biggest blow to the Heat was the failure of a potential Damian Lillard trade with the Portland Trail Blazers.
After being linked to the Heat for months, Lillard was ultimately traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, where he formed a dynamic duo with two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
However, as per NBA analyst Bill Simmons via Dru on Twitter, the Heat can still land either James Harden or Donovan Mitchell.
“I think this is a possible Harden team. Also, I’m not ruling out Donovan Mitchell for [Miami],” Simmons said.

Simmons believes the Heat are holding on to their future draft picks to couple them with Kyle Lowry’s expiring contract and trade for Harden.
To be honest, it seems like a pipe dream for the Heat since Lowry is well and truly out of his prime.
Moreover, the 37-year-old is all set to make $29.6 million during the 2023-24 season.
The second option that Simmons suggested was monitoring Mitchell’s situation with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Simmons believes if the Heat include Tyler Herro and a few draft picks in a trade package, they can acquire Mitchell.
Mitchell averaged 28.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game last season for the Cavaliers.
But many rumors have suggested that the All-Star guard is in no mood to re-sign with the Cavaliers.
The only hurdle will be whether the Heat want to trade away a young asset like Herro or not.
