Dublin Airport’s two terminals saw a total of 2.9 million passengers passing through in September of this year, marking an 11 per cent increase from the same month in 2022.

As Dublin Air Authority (daa) revealed, Sunday, September 24, witnessed the highest travel activity at Dublin Airport, with numerous delighted Irish rugby fans returning from France, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Regarding the destinations, London Heathrow was the top choice for travellers in the month of September, which is no surprise, given that the Dublin-London Heathrow route is among Europe’s most heavily frequented.

According to daa, a busy September brought the total number of summer season passengers at Dublin Airport from June to September to over 12 million.

In addition, the airport also shared data about passenger numbers during the summer months of this year, comparing it to the same period in the previous year.

In June 2023, the airport welcomed 3,218,315 passengers, marking a substantial 14.02 per cent increase compared to June of the previous year, when 2,822,524 passengers travelled through the airport.

Next up, in July of this year, the airport accommodated 3,425,253 passengers, showcasing a 12.81 per cent increase compared to the same month in the previous year when 3,036,257 passengers passed through the gates.

Lastly, In August of this year, the airport served a total of 3,419,986 passengers, reflecting a significant increase of 12.31 per cent compared to August 2022, which saw 3,045,133 passengers. These numbers highlight a consistent trend of growth and demand in the Dublin Airport.

Furthermore, during the summer months, the airport’s primary objective was to enhance the efficiency and speed of passenger security processing at Dublin Airport.

Our target at the start of the summer was to get 90 per cent of departing passengers at Dublin Airport safely through security in less than 20 minutes. The phenomenal security team blew that goal out of the water by getting an impressive 98 per cent of the 12 million passengers who travelled through Dublin Airport between the start of June and the end of September through in 20 minutes or less.

It is no surprise that Dublin Airport welcomed this many passengers during summer as many of them have travelled to the Irish city since it has become a favourite for many.

This is further supported by SchengenVisaInfo.com’s report earlier this year, where it was revealed that Dublin won the award as the World’s Best Weekend Destination for 2023 by Global Traveller readers.
