Chiefs Activate Key Defender For Chargers Game

The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs haven’t quite been the same offensive force they’ve become known for, but they are still winning games at a high clip.

Patrick Mahomes looks solid running the offense, but his lack of receiving weapons has become glaring as his only real reliable target is Travis Kelce.

In order to fix that, Andy Reid has leaned more on Isiah Pacheco and the ground game to keep the chains moving and that formula’s been working out so far.

However, the biggest surprise is the defense as Kansas City has been one of the best teams in the league on that end.

Chris Jones’ return to the defensive line has been a massive boost, while the secondary has also been holding its own in coverage.

Ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Chiefs will have their marquee free agent signing make his season debut via James Palmer of NFL Network.

Defensive end Charles Omenihu signed with Kansas City on a two-year, $16 million deal in free agency after a successful season with the San Francisco 49ers.

However, Omenihu was suspended for six games to begin the 2023 NFL season after violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

The veteran is a productive rusher off the edge and should give the Chiefs a big boost up front alongside Jones.

This spells bad news for the Chargers who struggled to protect Justin Herbert in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Kansas City remains as dangerous as ever, and with a revamped defense could be the favorites to once again represent the AFC.
