If anyone doubted that the Philadelphia Eagles were fully capable of getting back to the Super Bowl and winning it all this season, they made a powerful statement on Sunday.

They defeated the Miami Dolphins, 31-17, on Sunday, and it was a convincing victory that reminded everyone just how good they are when they play their best football.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts has been dealing with a left knee ailment, and per Tim McManus, head coach Nick Sirianni said he’s confident Hurts will be able to play this weekend against the Washington Commanders.

Hurts didn’t play his best versus Miami, but he did complete 23 of 31 passes for 279 yards and two touchdown passes, and at times, especially later in the game, it seemed like he was having his way with Miami.

Star wide receiver A.J. Brown had a big game with 137 receiving yards and a touchdown, while tight end Dallas Goedert added 77 yards and a touchdown of his own on five catches.

If Hurts is unable to go this weekend, it is presumed that Marcus Mariota will fill in for him.

Mariota was the No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft, and against Washington, who has a 3-4 record and has lost three of their last four games, perhaps he would be just enough to allow Philly to get another win.

Philly currently has a 6-1 record, which is tied with the Kansas City Chiefs, who they lost to in last season’s Super Bowl, for the best record in the NFL.

After facing the Commanders, the Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys, followed by their bye week and then a showdown against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
