After supposedly flirting with retirement during the NBA offseason, superstar forward LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers decided to return to the basketball floor for a 21st season in the league, which is an impressive feat, to say the least.

Over the last couple of years, everyone has marveled at how James is still able to play at such a high level during the twilight of his career in the NBA, as he’s approaching 39 years old in December.

Even though James is almost one year away from 40, he has shown few signs of slowing down, which has surprised his peers as much as the fans and coaches around the league today.

With James being in the league for over two decades now, he has left a lasting impact on players currently in the league, like fellow superstar Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns.

The two superstars went head-to-head for the first time in years earlier this week, and Durant talked about how James has impacted his career up to this point, via the NBA’s Twitter account.

Durant gave an interesting answer to how James has impacted his career, as he called him a “barometer” and a way to measure himself with one of the greatest players of all time.

Clearly, Durant has kept tabs on what James has done throughout his incredible playing career up to this point and still views him as an example of how great a player one can be in the league.

If these two superstars remain healthy this season, there’s a chance more head-to-head battles take place, which will be a treat for all basketball fans.
