For four seasons from 2018 to 2021, wide receiver Tyreek Hill and quarterback Patrick Mahomes were one of the best duos the NFL had ever seen.
The combination of Hill’s amazing speed and Mahomes’ ability to ad-lib and convert on unorthodox passes helped the Kansas City Chiefs win the Super Bowl during the 2019 campaign.
But the Chiefs stunned the league prior to last season by trading Hill to the Miami Dolphins, yet somehow they managed to win Super Bowl LVII in February.
On Sunday, Hill’s current team, the Miami Dolphins, will play the Chiefs, which means Hill will play against some of his former teammates for the first time.
Per David Furones, Mahomes says he’s still close to Hill, calling the signal-caller his brother.
“It’s going to be cool. That’s my brother,” Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes said of facing Tyreek Hill as an opponent for the first time. “It’ll be a great challenge for our defense.”

As a rookie in 2016, back when Alex Smith was the man under center for Kansas City, Hill had a strong rookie year with 593 receiving yards, six receiving touchdowns, and a league-high 592 yards and two touchdowns on punt returns.
That production earned him Pro Bowl and All-Pro First-Team honors that year.
Somehow, since leaving the Chiefs, he has only improved his production.
He put up 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns last year in his maiden voyage in Miami, and in eight games this year, he’s leading the NFL in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns with 1,014 and eight, respectively.
This Sunday’s game will be a statement game for both the Chiefs and Dolphins, but perhaps more so for the Dolphins, as they have been dismissed as fake contenders despite a 6-2 record and the league’s best offense.
