The Houston Texans headed into the 2023 NFL regular season with high hopes of getting the struggling franchise back in the right direction with a promising young rookie under center in C.J. Stroud.

Even though the team was hoping to turn things around, the Texans likely anticipate Stroud being the most NFL-ready rookie quarterback, as he has far exceeded expectations up to this point in his first season in the league.

It was a rough start to the 2023 campaign for Stroud and company, with the Texans losing their first two games of the season to the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts.

However, the team has been able to figure some things out since then, with Stroud seemingly getting better and better every single week and starting to get some MVP buzz as a result of his impressive play on the field.

On Sunday, Stroud was at it again as he led the team to a comeback victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, which sparked this reaction from ESPN’s Shannon Sharpe.

“C.J. Stroud has played the best QB in the NFL this season. Yes, he’s been that good and I said it.  Go argue in a cave with your echo.  Could become 1st rookie 2 win MVP since J. Brown in 1957,” Sharpe tweeted.

Usually, there are some pretty clear candidates for NFL MVP at this point in the season, but this year is a bit different, with no quarterback playing out of their mind at the moment.

Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes are MVP candidates, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Stroud swoops in and steals it with some impressive performances in the second half of the season, as he’s taken his game to another level.
