The New England Patriots have been one of the worst teams in the league this season, and no one seems to be surprised by that.
Truth be told, they’ve been a middle-of-the-pack-or-worse kind of team since Tom Brady’s departure, and not even the great Bill Belichick has been able to turn things around.
That’s why Hall of Famer DT Warren Sapp put the legendary coach on blast, stating that he’s just a product of Brady’s greatness and telling him it’s time to retire already (Via Dov Kleiman).

Sapp stated that all the talk about the Patriots Way is nonsense because they cannot replicate it anywhere else, and it was all thanks to Brady.
In reality, there’s literally no way of knowing whether Belichick would’ve been as good without Brady and vice versa.
Chances are that the Patriots wouldn’t have won six Super Bowl rings without arguably the greatest quarterback of all time.
On the flip side, Brady wouldn’t have found that much success without Belichick’s defenses as well.
Of course, watching Brady win a Super Bowl as soon as he left Foxboro, all while Belichick has yet to win a playoff game without him, hasn’t done much to help his case, and some will now put an asterisk next to his coaching record until the end of time.
But at the end of the day, numbers and résumés don’t lie, and Coach Belichick has earned the benefit of the doubt and his bragging rights forever.
There’s just no way to take anything away from him.
