Graphic Asks A Big Blake Snell Question

Most MLB contenders are hunting for pitching in the offseason.

That’s not a surprise: pitching is always at a premium.

For some reason, however, there seems to be no one talking about Blake Snell.

Snell, wearing the San Diego Padres uniform, won his second Cy Young award in 2023.

He became one of just a handful of pitchers to win the award at least once in both leagues: he had done it with the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League in 2018.

But the fans and the media are focusing on Yoshinobu Yamamoto and other top pitchers.

The St. Louis Cardinals inked Sonny Gray, and the Philadelphia Phillies re-signed Aaron Nola.

What about Snell?

We don’t know why his name has somewhat gone under the radar so far, but one thing is true: he will definitely get paid.

Who will sign him, though?

That’s the question FOX Sports: MLB is asking.

The graphic does show some logical candidates: the Seattle Mariners, the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Angels, and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

There is a chance that Snell’s landing spot depends on what happens with Yamamoto.

When the Japanese star signs, Snell will be one of the best pitchers on the board, and all those teams that lose out on the former will prioritize the latter.

There is one thing Snell has that Yamamoto doesn’t: MLB experience.

Two Cy Youngs certify that when he is on, Snell is one of the top starters in the majors.

With a lifetime 3.20 ERA at 30 years old (soon to be 31), Snell still has a lot to give.
