The Minnesota Timberwolves never had an ounce of doubt about drafting Anthony Edwards.

The talented shooting guard stood out from the rest of the pack at Georgia, but his character was even more impressive than his play.

Confident, strong, and determined to win, it didn’t take long before Edwards earned the fans’ respect.

Notably, that was also the case with his teammates, as he embraced a leadership role and has had a strong voice in the locker room from the very beginning.

That’s why Timberwolves big man Naz Reid praised him during his appearance on the “Run Your League” podcast (via ClutchPoints).

When asked about Edwards’ leadership, Reid raved about how much he’s grown in that regard, both taking a stand and being vocal and leading by example with his relentless work ethic.

The Timberwolves already had a franchise player and a legit superstar in Karl-Anthony Towns.

Nonetheless, he wasn’t always a strong leader, which is why he often drew plenty of criticism.

Adding Edwards by his side has been wonderful for the locker room, as he’s made everybody better and has kind of taken the spotlight away from Towns, allowing him just to focus on playing.

Not everyone was born to be a leader; that’s fine, and we shouldn’t mock or criticize players for not having those traits.

But Edwards is most definitely a born leader, and someone who’ll never hesitate to do whatever it takes to help his team get a win, even if he’s not taking the final shot.
