Christmas Celebrated in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Christian community of the valley on Monday celebrated Christmas; the birthday of Jesus Christ, with zest and gaiety in Srinagar. The Holy Family Catholic Church at Maulana Azad Road, Srinagar witnessed a huge rush of devotees who gathered at the religious place to participate in the morning prayers.

Amidst a dense cover of fog, a large number of devotees thronged to the Family Catholic Church in Srinagar to participate in the special morning prayers. The sight of congregants filling the pews reverberated with harmonious hymns and prayers, signifying the unity and jubilation that this festival brings.

Adequate security arrangements were made put in place by the administration to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the devotees.

“The Holy Family Catholic Church became a hub of communal harmony, symbolizing unity and spreading messages of peace and love,” one of the devotees said.

Local residents expressed their delight at being able to participate in the celebrations, cherishing the opportunity to rejoice in the festivities with their friends and families.

“Christmas is a time when our hearts are filled with the warmth of God’s love, reminding us of the greatest gift ever given—His Son, Jesus Christ,” said Josap, a devotee.

Another devotee, Mikel added that “gathering in prayer and song at the Family Catholic Church during Christmas brings us closer.”—(KNO)
