Despite suffering an onslaught of injuries throughout the 2023 NFL season, the Cleveland Browns have managed to keep pace in the AFC and look poised to snag a playoff spot.

The Browns have suffered injuries to players like Deshaun Watson and Nick Chubb, though the defense has been able to keep the team afloat throughout the year.

Joe Flacco has been a revelation since being signed to the practice squad and elevated to the 53-man roster, while Jerome Ford has been a capable stand-in for Chubb.

However, a lot of the credit should go toward head coach Kevin Stefanski who has kept the team together and has them playing great football at this juncture of the season.

Stefanski was drawing plenty of criticism at this point last year for the job he was doing, but this time around he’s got the Browns in a position not many expected them to be in.

Because of his success overcoming obstacles, Cleveland may be gearing up to offer him an extension in the offseason via Jonathan Jones of CBS.

It would be a well-deserved extension for Stefanski who has managed to win games with four different quarterbacks and is one of the candidates for NFL Coach of the Year.

The years and salary amount remain to be seen, but the Browns would be doing the right thing by keeping Stefanski around for the long term.

While Cleveland might not be able to make much noise in the postseason given the talent deficit, there should be optimism that Stefanski will get his group ready to go in the 2024 campaign.
