The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in playoff contention this year for a number of reasons.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield is balling in his first season with the team and the defense looks solid, but wideout Mike Evans is playing his best football in his 10th season in the NFL.

Not only does Evans lead the NFL with 13 receiving touchdowns this season, he’s also recorded a 1,000-yard season for the 10th consecutive season.

He has proven to be one of the best and most consistent wide receivers in the past decade, and yet CBS Sports’ Adam Schein believes Evans is the most underrated wideout in the past 10 years.

“You watching him playing – he dominates,” Schein said Sunday. “… This guy’s a beast.”

What comes next for Evans remains unclear, though, as he entered the 2023 season in the final year of his contract.

He and the team failed to come to an extension agreement before Week 1, which now sets up a big offseason decision for the Buccaneers.

Evans will be 31 years old by the start of the 2024 season, which makes the conversation a little more tough for any team looking to sign him.

The Buccaneers could also place the franchise tag on Evans, which would give them a few more months to come to an agreement.

Either way, Evans remains one of the best receivers in the NFL and now sets himself up nicely for a new contract in 2024.

But first, he and the Buccaneers will be fighting for a playoff berth to extend their season a bit longer.
