After the Dallas Cowboys’ latest playoff collapse, this time at the hands of the upstart Green Bay Packers, fans called for head coach Mike McCarthy to be fired.

The frustration over the job he has done as their coach has been bubbling up for a while, and yet the team decided on Wednesday to keep him on the sideline for the 2024 season.

Needless to say, Cowboys fans are frustrated and even mad.

At the same time, fans of other teams are seemingly celebrating the news.

McCarthy did win a Super Bowl championship with the Packers back in the 2010 season, but that was a long time ago, and that was a different team in a different situation.

The Cowboys looked dominant at times this season, and they do have tremendous talent between All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, Defensive Player of the Year candidate Micah Parsons, cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore, DaRon Bland, and the injured Trevon Diggs, as well as an excellent offensive line.

Many would argue that while McCarthy has underperformed, the real problem is quarterback Dak Prescott.

Yet again, Prescott didn’t play well in a big playoff game, as he threw two interceptions against Green Bay, with both of them coming in the first half when the game was emphatically decided.

He has one year left on his contract, and now one has to wonder if he will remain in Dallas long-term, especially if he fails to come through again next season.

The Cowboys haven’t won the Super Bowl or even gotten to the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 campaign.
