After many years of disappointment and underachievement, it may be the start of a new day for the Los Angeles Chargers, as they reportedly hired Jim Harbaugh as their next head coach on Wednesday.

Harbaugh is someone who has a documented history of turning teams around and building a winning culture, and he will bring instant respect and gravitas to a Chargers franchise that many have looked down on for a long time.

For years, he has loved to break huddles with the inspiring catchphrase: “Who’s got it better than us?”

So, the Chargers announced their hiring of him by tweeting that catchphrase.

Harbaugh has had lots of success coaching at both the college and NFL levels, including at the University of Michigan, who recently won the College Football Playoff National Championship under his guidance.

About a decade ago, he was at the helm of the San Francisco 49ers, and upon taking over there for the 2011 season, he took them from a 6-10 record the previous year to a 13-3 mark and the NFC Championship Game, as well as a Super Bowl appearance during the 2012 campaign.

The Chargers do have some roster deficiencies to address, but they have one of the NFL’s most physically gifted quarterbacks in Justin Herbert, as well as other studs, such as wide receiver Keenan Allen and pass rushers Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.

They will also have the No. 5 pick in April’s draft, which could yield yet another stud for them.

Los Angeles is still looking for a new general manager after they fired Tom Telesco several weeks ago on the same day they fired former head coach Brandon Staley.
