The Golden State Warriors were in desperate need of a change.

Steve Kerr’s rotations weren’t working anymore, and Jonathan Kuminga’s play made it more than evident that he was ready to take on a bigger role.

Kerr had been reluctant to give him a longer leash, up to the point where Kuminga publically called him out.

Now, the former lottery pick has finally established himself as a steady contributor to the team.

And while he’s grateful and thankful that his moment has finally come, he recently admitted that he’s also worried about the minutes going away again (via Warriors on NBC Sports):

“It feels great. Obviously, I’m still a little nervous because I’m still younger on the team where if you lose the ball sometimes, you might come out,” Kuminga told Chris Haynes. “Just deciding what I need to do and thinking faster and making faster plays.”

Kuminga’s character and personality have been a talking point in the Bay area for quite a while now.

He has the potential and physical tools to become a two-way superstar, and it’s only normal to see that he was desperate to prove it on the court, especially with some of his teammates struggling so mightily.

Whether he’s going to lose his minutes or not remains to be seen.

But for now, Kerr needs to keep trusting him, as he’s been the second-best player on the team behind Stephen Curry over the past couple of weeks or so and should be in line for an even bigger workload at some point in the near future.
