Michael Irvin Says 1 QB Will Dominate In Championship Game

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will once again be playing for a trip to the Super Bowl, this time against the Baltimore Ravens and their No. 1-ranked defense.

The matchup will be tough, but Mahomes has proved throughout his career that he can rise to any occasion and take down any opponent in his way – and it’s why he’s played in three Super Bowls and won two in six seasons.

The Ravens pose a big threat after they shut down seemingly every top team and quarterback on their way to the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin still believes Mahomes will find a way to play up to his elite level.

“I think he will have his dominance over this defense,” Irvin said. “… He’s going to play an incredible game. If he loses, it won’t be on him.”

Mahomes took down the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins in consecutive postseason weeks with his arm, even without a lot of consistent pass-catchers at his disposal.

Tight end Travis Kelce remains his No. 1 target and should be once more against the Ravens, but rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice emerged as a quality and trustworthy player for Mahomes over the course of the season.

Not much rattles Mahomes, either, especially after a down season – by his standards, anyway.

The Chiefs’ offense didn’t look as good as it had in the past and Mahomes’ production suffered because of it but that didn’t stop him from leading Kansas City back to the AFC title game for yet another shot at the Super Bowl.
