Nets Make Notable Move With Ben Simmons

The Brooklyn Nets desperately crave a turnaround.

Jacque Vaughn’s team has fallen off a cliff since trading Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant last season, and they have failed to find any sort of rhythm this season.

Fortunately for them, help might be in the way.

According to NBA insider Ian Begley, the team just announced that they’ve assigned Noah Clowney, Harry Giles III, and Ben Simmons to their G-League affiliate, the Long Island Nets, to get some reps.

Notably, Simmons is ramping up his recovery to make a comeback after barely being able to play this season with an injured back.

Giles is trying to make a comeback to the league, while Clowney hasn’t found his footing as a rookie yet.

Simmons has spent most of his time with the Nets on the shelf.

He’s been struggling with a lower back injury dating back to his final days with the Philadelphia 76ers, and it’s hard to envision him ever going back to his usual level.

He was a Defensive Player of the Year candidate and borderline All-Star when he was at his best.

Still, even if he’s no longer an offensive factor, he could be quite helpful on defense, not to mention that he can give them another playmaker, but he has plenty of work to do to turn the narrative about him around.
