Zach Wilson’s career has been something of a whirlwind.
The New York Jets took him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, a move that surprised some people around the league.
Wilson was an interesting prospect coming into the league, but due to the success he had at BYU, the Jets were willing to take a chance on him.
He seemed promising at first, but after being given several chances, it was clear that he wasn’t the quarterback they had envisioned.
The team brought in Aaron Rodgers before the 2023 season, and even though he got hurt, Wilson couldn’t prove himself as a viable backup.
After his performances through three years, it appears both Wilson and the Jets want to move on.
Wilson has been reportedly linked to several teams throughout the offseason, including the Kansas City Chiefs, as Craig Carton recently reacted to.
“If anybody can fix Zach Wilson, it’s going to be Andy Reid,” Carton said.

If Wilson is traded to the Chiefs, it could be valuable career experience for him.
As we have now seen with Jordan Love, Patrick Mahomes, and Tom Brady, sitting behind a veteran quarterback can be a positive thing for young players.
Wilson was thrown into the fire in his rookie campaign, hoping to catch on quickly to lead the Jets.
He didn’t have a mentor to watch over and help teach him, which could have been a reason for his downfall in New York.
Assuming the Chiefs do trade for him, can Wilson finally grow and develop into the type of quarterback the Jets expected when they drafted him?
