Most Cleveland Cavaliers fans believe that Evan Mobley will return to the team in the new season but a contract is currently being hammered out.

Speaking to ESPN Cleveland, Brian Windhorst gave some insight into what is going on behind the scenes.

He said that the Cavaliers are likely working hard to avoid a player option in Mobley’s new deal.

Additionally, they are probably trying to figure out the bonus Mobley will earn if he makes an All-NBA team.

Windhorst revealed that Mobley has a chance to make “a little over $200 million” if he is given a maximum extension.

Windhorst seems confident that both sides will agree to terms and Mobley will be back in Cleveland in 2024-25.

He also sounds sure that a player option won’t be part of this deal.

Basketball stars can earn bonuses when they are voted into All-NBA teams and Mobley’s representatives are definitely working hard to ensure that he gets a hefty one.

Mobley is coming off a season when he averaged 15.7 points and 9.4 rebounds.

It was a complicated, somewhat chaotic year for the Cavaliers.

The roster was constantly diminished by a series of bad injuries.

Mobley himself wasn’t immune and only played in 50 games.

But during those games, he showed that he’s a capable and powerful big man.

There have been rumors about the team’s other big man, Jarrett Allen.

It’s not entirely clear if he will be back with the Cavaliers next season but it sounds like Mobley will definitely be there, and making some good money too.
