Warriors Reportedly Are Not Looking To Trade 1 Young Player

The Golden State Warriors have gone through plenty of personnel changes this offseason after they missed out on the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

They lost Klay Thompson, one of the most important members of their dynasty over the past decade, and they have attempted to recover by bringing in Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson and De’Anthony Melton.

It is clear that if the Warriors are to have any chance of being competitive again, let alone becoming a championship contender, they will have to pull off a major trade of some sort.

But according to Anthony Slater, they’re not looking to include Brandin Podziemski in such a deal, per NBACentral.

“They don’t want to trade [Podziemski]. He’s beloved organizationally,” Slater said. “… One of the rare aspects to him, compared to the Warriors’ other recent picks, is Steve Kerr couldn’t keep him off the floor as a rookie.”

Podziemski, a 6-foot-4 guard, was the No. 19 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, and perhaps not a lot was expected out of him at first.

But he played well and became a reliable threat from the outside, and he eventually became a key part of their rotation.

In fact, as time went on, Kerr occasionally started the rookie at the two-guard spot instead of Thompson, who isn’t quite the same player he used to be after tearing his ACL and Achilles a few years ago.

Golden State clearly needs young blood in order to make something out of what remains of Stephen Curry’s prime, but executing a significant trade won’t be easy for multiple reasons, one of which is a lack of viable assets.
