MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Sunday highlighted the telltale sign that he believes shows Republicans are truly “not happy” with President Joe Biden’s decision to nix his 2024 reelection campaign.
Namely, their utter meltdowns over the news.
The GOP response is “the most telling thing about how positive this may be for the Democratic Party,” Scarborough told MSNBC colleague Katy Tur.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and current House Speaker Mike Johnson are among conservatives who have lashed out at the development, calling it anti-democratic, noted Scarborough, the cohost of “Morning Joe.”
Biden dropping out is “the one thing” that Trump feared, Scarborough said, citing “a good bit of reporting deep inside the Trump camp.”
Trump “has always considered himself to be the ultimate disruptor,” noted Scarborough. But “for the first time, not just in his political life, but the first time in his media life, in his professional life, the disruption is on the other side.”
Trump “is not disrupting and people are not having to respond to a shocking turn of events from him for once,” he added. “Now, Trump and his campaign team are going to have to respond to this shocking turn of events, and they’re not happy about it at all. And I think that’s why you are seeing a lot of Trump’s acolytes in politics and the media coming out and bitterly complaining about this.”
Scarborough echoed his point on X, formerly Twitter.
“Joe Biden puts country first and Republicans meltdown. What a tell,” he wrote.
