It's been an unforgettable experience for Teoscar Hernandez, the Los Angeles Dodgers slugger who will miss more in Tuesday's second game of a four-game series against the visiting San Francisco Giants Contest.

Hernandez hit a home run and had two RBI singles to help the Dodgers beat the rival Giants 3-2 on Monday. The effort comes a week after Hernandez won the Home Run Derby in Arlington, Texas.

Hernandez took the lead in the eighth inning on Monday, slamming his bat, hitting his chest twice as he ran toward first base and roaring into the Dodgers dugout after reaching the bag.

“In big moments, I try to calm myself down so I can do my job, and that's what I did today,” Hernandez said on the Los Angeles Sportsnet broadcast. “I didn't change my swing in the Derby. I tried to hit it nice and easy; I knew I had power…I think it fixed my swing, honestly, to get the ball in the air.”

One day after Dodgers right-hander River Ryan made his major league debut while allowing one run in 5 1/3 innings, Los Angeles will send out another rookie right-hander, Landon Knack. ) on the mound.

Knack (1-2, 3.23 ERA) has excelled in eight games (seven starts) this season. He started in San Francisco on June 28, allowing one run on five hits in 4 2/3 innings of nondecision. The Dodgers lost the game 5-3.

This may be his last chance to contribute for a while. Knack's appearance comes a day after Tyler Glasnow came off the injured list and started against the Giants, while Clayton Kershaw finished the season one day after shoulder surgery. First show.

“This is a big week,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “Getting our pitching back on track, it’s starting to look more like our baseball club.”

The Giants will put right-hander Jordan Hicks (4-6, 3.79) on the mound on Tuesday. Hicks is winless in his last nine starts, going 0-5 with a 5.57 ERA. In two starts in July, he was 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA (9 1/3 innings).

Hicks has a 1.23 ERA in nine career starts against Los Angeles (two starts) and no recorded shutouts.

Like the Dodgers, the Giants are making rotation changes. Left-hander Robbie Ray will make his San Francisco debut on Wednesday as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. Logan Webber will start ahead of Kyle Harrison in Thursday's series finale.

The Giants are 1-3 since the All-Star break and could benefit from some stability on offense. Rookie Tyler Fitzgerald has gone all out to hit a home run in four games. It's San Francisco's longest home run streak since Brandon Belt also played four games in May 2018.

But in Monday's loss, San Francisco went 0-for-7 from scoring position.

“I feel good, just trying to make up for their mistakes,” Fitzgerald said of opposing pitchers. “Take a lot of swings, get here early, prepare the right way, and go the right way. Just take advantage of how I feel right now because it never lasts in this game. Just try to see it and take good swing.
