Mets take advantage of Braves’ missteps for 10-inning win

Jeff McNeil had an RBI single in the 10th inning for his second hit of the night to lift the New York Mets to a 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves in a four-game series between the National League East rivals. First game.

Francisco Lindor hit a two-run home run in the third inning, the Mets' last hit until the tenth inning. New York has won four straight games this month to improve to 14-7 and is just a half game away from Atlanta competing for the National League's No. 1 wild-card spot.

Mets starter Luis Severino allowed two runs on seven hits in five innings, allowing two runs while striking out six. Braves starter Chris Sale struck out nine and allowed two runs on two hits and one walk in 7 1/3 innings.

Severino got out of trouble on first and third with one out in the first, and then the Braves went on a two-out run in the second. Laureano singled, stole second and scored on Arcia's single.

The Mets' Tyrone Taylor walked with one out in the third inning, then Lindor hit a home run to left-center with two outs. This is his 22nd home run of the season.

The Braves caught Severino before he got out in the sixth inning. Marcell Ozuna drew a leadoff walk, advanced to third on Olson's single and d'Arnaud's breaking bat at third base Scored a run on a single.
