Sauce Gardner Names The Best CB In The NFL

Sauce Gardner has had a tremendous start to his NFL career over the last two years, and during that time, he has made the Pro Bowl and All-Pro First Team twice.

However, there are those who feel he isn’t all that, and one executive even called him “overrated” and claimed he could be called for holding penalties on a consistent basis.

A reporter asked Gardner about that opinion, and the cornerback took it in stride while saying that teammate D.J. Reed is the best corner in the NFL, per Jets Videos.

In Gardner and Reed, the New York Jets have a pair of excellent corners who have helped them assemble a very strong defense over the last couple of years.

Reed, who began his career with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018 after he was a fifth-round draft choice, came to New York for the 2022 season and has put up 21 passes defended, two interceptions and two forced fumbles since then.

Meanwhile, Gardner has 31 passes defended, two interceptions and five tackles for loss in his first two pro seasons.

The Jets have put together a very strong roster overall, and with quarterback Aaron Rodgers apparently recovered from the torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 of last season, they’re hoping to do something special this season.

They have suffered through lots of bad fortune over the last 50 years or so, and although they reached the AFC Championship Game in 2009 and 2010, they haven’t been a true heavyweight since the days of Joe Namath.

Will this be the year the Jets finally earn some real dignity and at least go far in the NFL playoffs?
