Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills has consistently been considered one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks over the past few years, and although the crew around him has drastically changed this offseason, his reputation hasn’t.

Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins talked about why he has beef with the New York Jets, one of the Bills’ biggest competitors this season in the AFC East, and in doing so compared Allen to one of the greatest athletes of all time.

Dawkins talked about how NBA players without esteem wouldn’t be talking to or about Michael Jordan back in the day, and he said he’s there to be Allen’s personal protector, per “Up & Adams.”

“Josh Allen is my Michael Jordan,” Dawkins said. “So you wanna talk to MJ, in front of me, and I’m his personal protector? Oh, yeah, I’m the first one to throw hands.”

Dawkins has spent all of his seven pro seasons with the Bills and has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past three, so it’s admirable that he would stick up for Allen in that manner.

Of course, despite the fact last season was an outright disaster for the Jets after future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1, they did manage to defeat the Bills in that opening-week matchup.

This year, Allen will not have four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs or former WR2 Gabriel Davis on his side, and therefore, he and the Bills will have to regroup offensively.

They’re hoping that young players Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman will develop into legitimate threats at wide receiver, and if they do, perhaps the Bills can successfully hold off the Jets and Miami Dolphins and win the AFC East for a fifth straight time.
