After a disappointing end to a forgettable 2023 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles headed into the NFL offseason determined to right the ship as the team knows that they are in a championship window with a franchise quarterback and need to capitalize on the situation.

That said, many moves were expected this offseason, and the team brought in superstar running back Saquon Barkley, the one move that made a lot of headlines and drastically improved the team in the backfield.

One move that really took a lot of people by surprise was the storied franchise making a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers to acquire quarterback Kenny Pickett to be Jalen Hurts’ backup in Philadelphia.

The team didn’t need to make a move to address the quarterback position, but they did anyway, and now it appears it may have backfired, with Tanner McKee getting second-team reps on Sunday, according to EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer via Thomas R. Petersen.

Obviously, this news will turn a lot of heads, as it was thought that the Eagles had brought in a backup that was capable of shouldering the load if Hurts went down with an injury during the season.

Now, this is a sign of concern, as it may have been a move that the Eagles regret and Pickett may be heading in the wrong direction in terms of his development.

As for McKee, the Eagles brought in the Stanford product in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft at No. 188 overall and has either shown a lot of progress or Pickett has drastically regressed.
