The Detroit Lions recently took a massive hit in their defensive backfield.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, veteran cornerback Emmanuel Moseley suffered a torn pectoral in practice and is expected to be out indefinitely.

The 28-year-old was returning from ACL tears that he suffered in both 2022 and 2023.

He can’t seem to catch a break.

Moseley came over to Detroit from the San Francisco 49ers, who he was with for the first five years of his career, before the 2023 season.

After playing just five games in his final season with the 49ers due to an ACL tear in his left knee, he played in just one game for the Lions last season before tearing his right ACL.

When a player gets the “out indefinitely” designation, that essentially means there is no timetable for his return.

Moseley, a former undrafted free agent, has had to overcome a lot in his career and will have to overcome yet another hurdle.

In 46 career games played, he has 33 starts, 162 total tackles, four interceptions, and 33 pass deflections.

It will now be up to head coach Dan Campbell and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to help find a player or two to fill the void left by the veteran.

There are still plenty of veteran cornerbacks on the free-agent market such as Patrick Peterson, Xavien Howard, and Stephon Gilmore.

With what Detroit accomplished last season, it could now be seen as a popular destination for players who want to go win.

Keep an eye out for what the Lions may do in response to the loss of Moseley.
