Klay Thompson, Mavericks visit Warriors in NBA Cup opener

On the first night of the 2024 Chiefs NBA Cup, guard Klay Thompson, now playing for the Dallas Mavericks, will face the host Golden State Warriors. He has played with the Warriors for the past 13 seasons and won 4 league championships. .

The game is the second of a doubleheader on Nov. 12 as the league kicks off the second year of its in-season tournament, now called the Chiefs NBA Cup.

The NBA released its full game schedule and nationally televised group stage schedule on Tuesday, and the full 2024-25 regular season schedule will be released on Thursday.

The first Cup Night (TNT) kicks off with the Philadelphia 76ers hosting the New York Knicks, followed by the Mavericks hosting the Warriors.

The defending NBA Cup champion Los Angeles Lakers will challenge the San Antonio Spurs on the road on November 15 (ESPN), followed by the Memphis Grizzlies on the road that night against the Warriors.

Like last year's game, teams were randomly divided into six groups of five teams each to play a single round-robin game of two home games and two away games. Seeds are determined based on win-loss record during the 2023-24 regular season.

The group stage will be held on four Tuesdays (November 12, November 19, November 26 and December 3) and three Fridays (November 15, November 22 and November 29).

TNT and ESPN will jointly broadcast 14 games, and NBA TV will broadcast three games in the first phase of the Emirates NBA Cup.

The quarter-finals of the single-elimination tournament will be held on December 10-11. The semi-finals will be held in December and the championship games will be held on December 17.
