The Minnesota Timberwolves could very well have the next face of the NBA on its roster in Anthony Edwards who continues to ascend the superstar rankings.

Edwards had his coming out party in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and followed it up with a strong 2024 NBA Playoffs run that ended in a Western Conference Finals appearance.

However, the young star guard wasn’t done as he played an integral role off the bench in Team USA’s run to a gold medal during the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

One of the best scorers in the league, Edwards is also a tenacious defender who relishes his assignments.

Perhaps the changing of the guard happened this past postseason when Edwards and the Timberwolves swept a Phoenix Suns team led by Kevin Durant.

Edwards and Durant sat together in a Q&A session and the former joked about what it was like to send home the latter via Bleacher Report.

“I felt bad a little bit, only because he’s my favorite player of all time. I didn’t wanna send him home like that,” Edwards said.

Edwards has openly talked about how Durant was his favorite player growing up and the Suns star seems to take the jab in good will.

It was quite an impressive feat to see Edwards step up in the playoffs and sweep a Durant-led team.

However, the most exciting thing regarding Edwards is he’s still so young that there’s certainly some untapped upside with him.

If Edwards takes another leap this year, it won’t be long until he’s crowned as the best player in the league.
