Despite only winning two NBA championships during the history of their franchise, the New York Knicks are still one of the most popular teams in the league, with many great players who have come through the organization since it was founded in 1946.

Superstars who never played for the Knicks always relished the opportunity of playing at legendary Madison Square Garden because it was an atmosphere like no other in the NBA, with LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan all singing the arena’s praises over the years while having incredible performances in front of the fans in New York.

With the Knicks back on the rise in the Eastern Conference with Jalen Brunson as the new face of the franchise, New York has been buzzing about what might be in store.

As the Knicks have become a hot topic of discussion, especially after recently acquiring forward Mikal Bridges in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, the debate over the best player in Knicks history has started up again, with Clyde Frazier humorously mentioning Patrick Ewing’s choice for the honor.

“I said that Willis Reed was the greatest Knick of all time,” Frazier said, via Geoff Magliochetti of Sports Illustrated. “Willis said it was Patrick. Patrick said it was Patrick.”

If Brunson can lead the Knicks to a few more deep playoff runs and somehow get the team back to the NBA Finals, he could become the easy choice for the distinction, as he’s already won over the fans in New York.

However, Reed vs. Ewing will always be a debate with both legends making a name for themselves when they were the face of the Knicks.
