Louis Riddick Reveals Which QB Should Start For Steelers

Through two preseason games, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense has left a lot to be desired as it tries to work through things ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Russell Wilson is in line to serve as the Steelers’ starting quarterback, though he suffered a calf strain earlier in training camp that has hindered his onboarding.

Justin Fields has been getting the majority of reps under center and has reportedly looked good.

Pittsburgh traded for Fields who no longer was in the Chicago Bears’ long-term plans after they took Caleb Williams first overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

During his time in Chicago, Fields showed flashes of being a legitimate dual-threat quarterback though he never was truly set up for success.

Although Wilson is slated to begin the regular season as the starter, analysts like Louis Riddick believe Fields should be the one starting instead.

“I’m going with Justin Fields simply because of the fact that one, he’s been the player that’s been healthy and that’s been available. And two I think he has taken full advantage of those reps and those opportunities,” Riddick said.

As Riddick mentioned, Fields has been healthy and available throughout the offseason, though he acknowledged Wilson will still likely get the nod.

Wilson has a lot to prove at this stage of his career as his tenure with the Denver Broncos didn’t go very well.

Meanwhile, Fields will also be looking to show that he is a starter in the NFL and could get his opportunity if Wilson struggles out of the gate.
