No team in the NFL had higher expectations heading into the 2023 NFL season last year after making a blockbuster trade to improve the quarterback than the New York Jets considerably.

The addition of four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers was thought to be an instant game-changer for the Jets, as the storied franchise was finally able to bring in a force to be reckoned with at the quarterback position, which would complement the team’s stout defense and potentially create one of the most well-rounded squads in the league.

Unfortunately for New York, Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in his first series under center for the Jets against the division-rival Buffalo Bills in Week 1, which ultimately derailed the team’s season and chances to compete in the AFC.

However, Rodgers is back healthy and motivated to return to work during the 2024 NFL season, which means the Jets are doing everything they can to put the right talent around him and upgrade the defense.

According to the team’s Twitter account, the Jets’ most recent moves include placing wide receiver Malik Taylor on the Reserve/Injured list and signing former Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Jaylen Twyman.

Even though signing Twyman isn’t a game-changer for the Jets, New York’s defense could be elite this season and will need some depth on the defensive line to avoid any drop-off if and when injuries inevitably start to pile up.

As of right now, the Jets are being considered one of the better teams in the AFC, but with a healthy Rodgers under center, they will have a lot to prove in the first few weeks of the season.
