As a member of any team, it helps to have someone who will break the monotony of daily tasks with some levity.

In sports, every winning team seems to have someone who will crack jokes and keep everyone loose to balance out the hard work and pressure that must be dealt with.

Kevin Durant, who just helped Team USA men’s basketball win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, said that teammate Anthony Edwards was “probably the biggest jokester in the locker room.”

“He had all the funny sayings that we picked up on,” Durant said, via Hoop Central. “That Atlanta slang came in the locker room heavily.”

Edwards, a guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, is considered one of the brightest young stars in the NBA, and he is also one of the most confident players the league has seen in some time.

He has said he is or will become the best player in the league, and he seems to have all the tools he needs to make good on that statement.

At the Olympics, Edwards helped out by averaging 12.8 points a game on 58 percent shooting from the field and hitting 48 percent from 3-point range.

During the 2023-24 NBA regular season, he put up 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.

Thanks to some big performances from him on both ends of the floor, the Timberwolves shocked a lot of people by defeating the Denver Nuggets in the first two games of the Western Conference semifinals on the road before eliminating the defending NBA champions in Game 7.

Edwards could be poised for an even bigger role on Team USA for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, when it is unlikely Durant will suit up again.
