The 2024-25 NBA is still a couple of months away and it appears that teams will take the rare break in the year before diving back head first when training camp starts late in September.

The Boston Celtics will enter the new season as the reigning champions, but will have its fair share of obstacles to get through if it hopes to repeat.

The Eastern Conference alone contains threats like the Philadelphia 76ers, the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks while the Western Conference is home to contenders like the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Denver Nuggets, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks.

Matt Barnes, along with the rest of the NBA media landscape, will be watching closely to see which of these teams will make a Finals run and if any other team will join them.

Barnes is no stranger to high-level basketball after playing for several teams during his NBA career and remains close to the game of basketball.

Recently, Barnes’ son underwent emergency surgery for his appendix and the veteran revealed the doctor said they were surprised it hadn’t ruptured via TMZ Sports.

“Barnes says doctors performed emergency appendix surgery. One doctor called it “the largest appendix he’s ever seen that hadn’t ruptured,” the source told TMZ Sports.

Barnes’ son Zay was also involved in a car accident earlier in the week, thus making this surgery a wild way to end the weekend.

However, Zay appears set to make a full recovery which is good news for him and the rest of his family.
