Former Pro Bowl Running Back Will Meet With Cowboys Monday

The Dallas Cowboys may have finally gotten star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb signed to a lucrative contract extension, but they still have plenty of issues to sort out.

Quarterback Dak Prescott is still in need of an extension, as is pass rusher Micah Parsons, and they have multiple roster holes.

Perhaps their biggest roster hole is the running back position, where they have an older Ezekiel Elliott and the underwhelming Rico Dowdle.

But Dallas may be poised to make a sizable splash at that position.

Per Tom Pelissero, Dalvin Cook, a four-time Pro Bowl RB, will be flying into Dallas to visit with the team.

Cook was very recently a legitimate star running back who made the Pro four straight times from 2019 to 2022, and in all four of those seasons, he had over 1,100 rushing yards.

He signed with the New York Jets last offseason and was supposed to give them a killer duo in the backfield along with Breece Hall, but he mustered just 214 yards on 67 carries before being released toward the end of the regular season.

As Pelissero noted, Cook was recovering from shoulder surgery a year ago, but this offseason, he has been able to train and get himself back into playing shape.

At age 29, he could have one solid season left in him if he’s healthy and fully in shape.

High expectations and lots of pressure always surround the Cowboys, but this year, there is also plenty of angst.

There is a feeling Prescott could end up becoming a free agent at the conclusion of the season, which means this could be his last year with them.
