Shannon Sharpe Says Chiefs WR ‘Needs To Grow Up’ After Being Released

The Kansas City Chiefs made a business decision.

Kadarius Toney is no longer a part of their plans, and truth be told, it’s hard to blame them.

He looked poised to breakout after the New York Giants gave up on him, and he even had some big plays with the Chiefs.

Then, in his second season there, he often made the rounds for the wrong reasons, and once again, he was an afterthought.

That’s why Shannon Sharpe and Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson hope he finally gets his act together.

Talking on their Nightcap show, they argued that this was the perfect opportunity for him to finally mature and understand that talent alone won’t get you anywhere in the league.

“I just hope he matures. He just needs to understand that you gotta grow up,” Sharpe said.

While they both agree that he’s got plenty of potential, Sharpe stated that there were a lot of talented guys without a job in the league right now.

Sharpe believes the only reason to even give him an opportunity at this point is because he was a first-round pick, questioning someone who couldn’t make it work with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The league doesn’t need 99% of its players.

Unless it’s a superstar like Patrick Mahomes and a few hand-picked exceptions, the game can go along just fine without most players, regardless of their talent.

Everybody needs to get to work and do their job.

Otherwise, they won’t just get tens of millions based on their potential alone; everything has to be earned, not given.
