Michael Irvin Predicts Dak Prescott’s Future With Cowboys

There is a lot of concern about the contract situation of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who is up for a contract extension, and it is very unlikely he will receive an extension before the regular season starts.

It has led to people speculating that this will be his last season with the Cowboys, and that the team is therefore in plenty of trouble moving forward.

Legendary Cowboys wide receiver and three-time Super Bowl champion Michael Irvin joined Fox Sports 1’s “Speak” and talked about some of the factors that have complicated Prescott’s extension talks.

He compared Prescott and team owner Jerry Jones to an old, married couple that argues over every little thing but remains together and said Prescott will stay in Dallas for years to come.

If Prescott isn’t an elite quarterback, he’s close, and last season, he momentarily became a leading MVP candidate as the schedule wound down.

He finished the year leading everyone with 410 completed passes and 36 touchdown passes while ranking third in passing yards and tied for the second-highest pass completion percentage.

The issue with Prescott is his continued poor performances in big games and in the playoffs, and it is something that some feel may give Jones pause as far as whether he wants to continue to invest in Prescott.

The signal-caller threw two early interceptions in last season’s wild-card playoff game against the Green Bay Packers that buried Dallas 27-0 late in the second quarter and doomed their chances of winning.

They ended up losing 48-32, which ended their long winning streak at AT&T Stadium.
