Key Bengals WR Is Suddenly Dealing With An Injury

The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver room has had a tumultuous offseason filled with contract demands, trade requests, and free-agency departures.

With just days to go until the 2024 NFL season kicks off, the Bengals are now forced to deal with an injury to a key member of said WR room.

Bengals beat reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer and USA Today Kelsey Conway shared an excerpt from practice today and said that all of the team’s wide receivers were on a separate field catching passes from the quarterbacks while Tee Higgins was not out there with him after popping up on the injury report on Thursday as a limited participant due to a hamstring injury.

This immediately becomes a situation to monitor as Higgins’ presence is vital given all the controversy surrounding fellow star receiver Ja’Marr Chase lately, who just returned to practice after a months-long hold-in as he fights for a new contract.

Higgins was seeking a long-term deal earlier this offseason and demanded a trade as well, but he didn’t get what he was looking for and will now be playing this year on the franchise tag that will earn him just over $21.8 million this season.

Chase hasn’t been seen on the field all preseason and there are plenty of question marks about his status heading into the regular season, which placed a lot more pressure on Higgins to produce, especially given the fact that he will be looking to have a big year to earn that new contract.

All is not well out of Bengals camp.
