After having a bounce-back year in 2023 after a disappointing 2022 campaign, the Los Angeles Rams headed into the 2024 NFL season with high hopes of being a force to be reckoned with in the NFC again, led by the offensive trio of Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp and rising star Puka Nacua.
Although the Rams started Week 1 healthy with all three of these stars on offense to take on the Detroit Lions on the road at Ford Field, the game didn’t end that way, as the second-year wideout went down with an apparent knee injury, that led to a lot of concern that it could be a long-term issue.
Nacua was taken off the field on a cart, which is never a good sign, especially when a player is as impactful as the young wide receiver, making the passing game more dynamic.
With Nacua dealing with a knee issue that resulted in him missing most of training camp, the talented wide receiver leaving the field the way he did made many think that the knee problem had returned to haunt him in Week 1.
Ultimately, the knee injury he dealt with in the offseason is what was bothering him on Sunday against the Lions, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who reported on his X account that Nacua would miss at least the next four games after being placed on IR.
Rams HC Sean McVay clarified his earlier comments and said Puka Nacua will placed on IR due to his knee injury and he will miss at least four games.

Losing Nacua for the next month would be a devastating blow to the Rams’ offense, which looked pretty good on Sunday night when taking on arguably one of the best teams in the NFC in Detroit.
In Week 2, the Rams will continue their road trip, taking on the division-rival Arizona Cardinals in hopes of winning their first game of the season.
