ATP roundup: Adrian Mannarino wins opener in Chengdu

Fifth seed Adrian Mannarino beat French compatriot Terrence 6-7 (9), 6-1, 6-3 in the first round of the Chengdu Open in China on Thursday Terence Atmane.

Manarino hit 6 aces in 2 hours and 32 minutes and won against 9 double faults by his opponent.

Russian eighth seed Roman Safiulin also played three sets and defeated Italian Fabio Fognini 6-3, 4-6, 6-4. Safiulin hit 13 aces and scored 80% of his first serve points. The game ended in 2 hours and 8 minutes.

Unseeded players Yannick Hanfmann of Germany, Shang Juncheng of China, Federico Augustin Gomez of Argentina and Christopher O'Connell of Australia all won in straight sets and advanced to the second round.

Hangzhou Open

Sixth seed Zhang Zhizhen defeated Kazakh Denis Yevseyev 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 in the first round in China.

Chinese player Zhang Xiang hit 7 aces and won the match in just over 2 hours with the help of his opponent's 6 double faults.

In other matches, No. 8 seed Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan, Mattia Bellucci of Italy, Roberto Cabares Baena of Spain, Alexander Shevchenko of Russia and Uchiyama of Japan Tai Longjun won in straight sets and advanced to the second round. Hong Kong player Chak Lam Coleman Wong easily defeated Chinese player Yibing Wu to advance.
