Fund manager to reveal his favorite undervalued stocks

CNBC’s Silvia Amaro and Ranmore Fund Management’s Sean Peche

In the wake of the Federal Reserve's massive 50 basis point interest rate cut, investors have been wondering whether growth or value stocks are the best bet.

On CNBC's upcoming Pro Talks, Silvia Amaro will ask value investor Sean Peche about the opportunities he sees in the current market.

Peche is a portfolio manager at Ranmore Fund Management in the UK, managing $329 million of the fund Lanmore Global Equity Fund. The fund was launched in 2008 to identify mispriced stocks, or those selling for less than their underlying value.

“An important part of our process is to avoid overvaluing a business. Investors often get caught up in the excitement of a business's rapid growth. Over time, they begin to justify paying any price for that growth,” he said. “This is something we're more than happy to let go of, even if it means missing out on potential short-term gains.”

Peche will discuss which sectors and regions investors should be watching now, as well as his favorite stocks. He will also be asked whether value investing is at a turning point in light of interest rate cuts by central banks around the world.

Popular industries for the Ranmore Global Equity Fund include consumer discretionary (24%), financials (22%) and industrials (10%). Only 3% of the fund is invested in technology and 6% in communications. Its largest holding is the French supermarket chain Carrefouroil company brazilChinese technology giant Alibaba and Baiduand ABN AMRO.

The Ranmore Global Equity Fund returned 21.6% last year through Aug. 31, below the 24.4% of its benchmark MSCI World Index. Since its inception, the fund has posted annualized gains of 10.9%, slightly ahead of the MSCI benchmark's 10.6%.

Peche founded Ranmore Fund Management in 2008 after serving as co-manager of U.S./European hedge funds at London-based Decillion Fund Management and as an equity analyst at Orbis Investment Advisory.
